Mother, Alberta (Smith) McKinney was born Octobert 20, 1904 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Emery Elwood and Lulubel (Hale) Smith. and departed this life June 1, 1995 in Portland, Oregon. She attended Grade School in Fort Dodge. On July 2, 1934 in Santa Ana, California, she married Everett Adolph McKinney. To this union six children were born: Lulu Ann, John Charles, Paul Elwood, David Hiram, Everett Andrew, and Florence Ruth McKinney. Alberta enjoyed caring for her six children. She sewed all of their clothes and knitted many sweaters, gloves, hats. She baked the bread, pies, cookies-keeping jar full; canned garden produce, fruits, jams. She never was a licensed driver. She was active in church woman's activities, WCTU. In WCTU, she dedicated herself to teach each of her six children not to use alcholic beverages. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Eugene, Oregon as long as she could. Her body was interred in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park in Fort Dodge. (written by Ann Bowler)
