Services Are Held For Mrs. Swanson

Harcourt - Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, September 13, at two o'clock by pastor Glenn M. Squires for Mrs. J.W. Swanson who died September 9, 1956. Internment was made in the Lost Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Anderson, Jay Carlson, Walter Peterson, C.V. Nordblom, Merril Monson and John Thelin. The Palmer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mesdames M.W. Forslund, Rex Bottorff and Sylvester Decker were in charge of the flowers.
Music was provided by Norman Erickson, soloist, who was accompanied by Mrs. Erickson. Mrs. Oliver Peterson was the organist.
Dr. Lloyd A. Gustafson, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Mason City, and brother of Mrs. Swanson pronounced the benediction at the graveside services. The Helping Hand Society served lunch at the church.
Mrs. J.W. Swanson was born Frances Amelia Gustafson, daughter of Andrew and Anna Gustafson on August 3, 1894 at Havelock, Iowa.
On December 28, 1919 she was married to J. Wesley Swanson at Harcout, Iowa. Her early life was spent near Havelock, Iowa. In 1908 she moved to Webster county, near Callender and in 1915 she moved to a farm near Harcourt, Iowa and later moved into town.
She was a member of the Methodist church at Harcourt and of the Woman's Society of Christian Service.
She is survived by her husband; by a son, Dwight W. Swanson, of Silver Springs, Maryland;by three daughters, Ardyce of Fort Dodge; Lucille, now Mrs. Wallace Lang, of Brooklyn, Iowa: and Pauline, now, Mrs. Richard Bowlsby of Des Moines, Iowa.
There survive also 12 grandchildren. She leaves three brothers, Elmer Gustafson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Clyde Gustafson of Harcourt; and Lloyd Gustafson of Mason City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers.
