Mrs. A. E. Allan Died On Sunday At Home Here
Funeral Services Are Held At Allerton Baptist Church
Mrs. A. E. Allan, who made her home with her son, G. G. Allan on North Second St., had a severe stroke of paralysis on Nov. 5, at her home, and from which she never regained consciousness. She passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 13. Funeral services were held in the Allerton Baptist church conducted by the Rev. Holland and burial was in the Allerton Cemetery.
Obituary
Amanda Howell was born in Bentley, Illinois, on August 18, 1856, and died in the home of her son in Seymour, Iowa, on Nov 13, 1932, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 25 days. Her mother died July 5, 1874, in Bentley, Ill., and the same year with her father, two sisters and one brother, she moved to Wayne County, Iowa, in which she has resided ever since. She was married to Hugh Allan on March 20, 1874. To this union were born three children, Orville H., who died in infancy; Mrs. L. W. Stroud, of Corydon; and G. G. Allan, of Seymour; who survive her. Her husband preceded her in death seven years, having died Dec. 24, 1926. Since her husband’s death she has spent her time with her children. Besides her two children, she leaves to mourn her going eleven grandchildren; one brother N. F. Howell, of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Robert Allan, of Beatrice, Neb.; and many other relatives and friends. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed in their homes.
