Obituary ~ Berniece Evelyn (Howell) Emm
January 16, 1914 ~ August 24, 1978

BERNIECE EVELYN HOWELL EMM, daughter of CLARE and FLOSSIE MAE (LUCE) HOWELL, was born Jan. 16, 1914 in Decatur County, Iowa and died Aug. 24, 1978 at the Ottumwa Iowa Hospital, age 64 years, 7 months, 8 days after a short illness.

She united with Leon Brethren Church in 1928 and later transferred membership to LeRoy Presbyterian and then to Humeston Baptist Church. She attended Leon schools and Corning Teachers Summer School. She taught rural schools in Clarke County.

She was united in marriage to VIRGIL ARTHUR EMM, June 20, 1935. To this union were born 4 children; DOROTHY EXLEY, Chariton, ADA HITT, Humeston, MARY DAVENPORT, Derby and DAIVD, of Osceola.

During married life, she lived in Clarke and Decatur Counties on farms. After death of husband in [January 21] 1969, she worked with Farm Service in Corydon; since she has been active Tupperware dealer. She has been active in church Rebekah Lodge, Yorel Study Club, LeRoy Garden Club, Home Service Club and Legion Auxiliary.

BERNIECE was engaged to be married this summer to EUGENE BOGGS of Weldon.

Also preceding her in death were father CLARE HOWELL and brother LEON.

Survivors are her mother FLOSSIE HOWELL, Leon; brother, LLOYD of Decatur; sister, JUDY GRAHAM, Osceola; children; DOROTHY and husband, DALE; ADA and husband, BILL; DAVID and wife JANIEVE; fiancé, EUGENE BOGGS; 8 grandchildren; SHERRY and BRIAN EXLEY, Chariton; RODNEY, WENDY and BENNY HITT, Humeston; SCOTT, WILLY and AMANDA DAVENPORT, Derby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Humeston Cemetery, Humeston, Iowa.]
