Humeston Advocate, Humeston, Iowa
Friday, September 11, 1903

Cecil Caldwell, son of G. O. and Martha Caldwell, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. C. Beemer, in Woodland, Iowa, September 5th, 1903, aged 26 years, 5 months, and 26 days.

Funeral services were conducted at the house Sunday at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Harrison Wilson, after which the body was laid to rest in the Caldwell burying ground north of Lewisburg.

Deceased was born in Wayne county near Lewisburg and lived there with his parents until about 16 years of age when he went to Missouri, where he remained until about two years ago, when failing health caused him to go to Colorado. There he spent a little more than one year but as his health continued to fail, he returned to Decatur county hoping the change would benefit him. For a time he appeared to improve, but that insidious disease, diabetes, continued its work and although of a strong constitution he could not withstand its weakening effect. About five years ago he united with the Baptist church and has since lived a consistent christian life.
