Obituary

William Huston Davis was born in Pulaski County, Ky., October 12, 1874, and passed away at his home in Cambria, May 5, 1922, aged 47 years, six months and 23 days.

Mr. Davis left his Kentucky home when he was three years old and came to Iowa with his parents and only brother, Ben, settling at Derby, Iowa, and some years later coming to Cambria, near to and in which he had since resided.

Deceased was united in marriage to Miss Cordelia Broyles of Pulaski, Ky., in 1899, and to this union was born three children, Willis C., who died at birth, Juanita and Cordelia. He leaves his wife, two daughters, and brother, Ben, not to grieve but to cherish the memory of an honored and beloved brother, husband and father. Mr. Davis united with the Cambria Baptist church when he was a school boy, and his confidence was that God thru His Son Jesus was able to save to the uttermost. To him, in truth, the church was the house of God, and he was always in his place of service until failing health compelled him to let the burden fall on others. As a citizen Mr. Davis always did his full share for the advancement of the community. He was true, upright, honest, and one whose word was never questioned. He was a Mason, Woodman and Yeoman. One of his very last requests was that his dear friends be thanked for their multitude of sympathies and kindnesses extended to him during the days of his illness.

The funeral services were held from the Cambria Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, May 7, conducted by the Rev. E. A. Place of Leon. A great company of friends and neighbors were assembled to pay their last tribute, and a long line of automobiles followed the remains to their last resting place in the Rush cemetery. –By E. A.
