October 16, 1907Alva A. Gibbs
Alva A. Gibbs passed away at the home of Perry Baker, Seattle, Wash., Monday, October 7 about 8 o'clock, after a short illness, caused by a abscess.
Alva A. Gibbs, the son of our townspeople, Mr. and Mrs. George Gibbs, was born July 6, 1880 just west of town. He grew to manhood in our town and has always made this his home with the exception of the past few years he has been in the West.
About the middle of last May he went to Washington and from there to Deering, Alaska, then back to Washington in August. He made three trips to Alaska during his life. Alva was a very industrious and kind hearted young man and had many friends who will regret deeply to learn of his death.
He is survived by his father and mother and two brothers and six sisters, all of whom mourn the loss of their son and brother.
The remains were brought back from Seattle, reaching here Monday evening. Funeral services were held at the Christian church yesterday at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Ross, of the Methodist church, and the remains were laid to rest in the Humeston cemetery.
CARD OF THANKS
We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to the many kind friends at Seattle and Humeston for their generous help and sympathy in our deep bereavement. The kindness will ever be gratefully remembered.
