Carl Luckey Called By Death
Carl Augustus Luckey of Riverside died Monday evening, July 22, 1963 at the VA hospital in Iowa City. He had been a resident of Riverside for the last 44 years and prior to that lived in the Columbus Junction and Gladwin Communities.
A retired well driller, he had been in ill health for many years.
The funeral was Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Sorden and Adams Chapel at Riverside. The Rev. W. F. Boeckman was in charge with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Luckey was born in Washington County, May 10, 1887, a son of Joseph C. and Nora Woodruff Luckey. He was the last of 13 brothers and sisters.
He was married to Marguerite Annas of Columbus Junction, March 3, 1919.
Survivors include his widow, widely known as Marge Luckey, a correspondent and columnist for the Washington Evening Journal.
Also surviving are four sons: Dale of Detroit, Michigan, Lyle of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Fred of Riverside and James of Ladora; seven daughters: Mrs. Clarence Wilson and Mrs. Merle Blieu of Washington, Mrs. James Benish of Richardson, Texas; Dr. Virginia Moldenhauer of Chicago, Mrs. Glen Miller of Solon, Mrs. Patricia Strickland of Baxter, Mrs. Larry Flanagan of Marengo; and 22 grandchildren. One son, William died September 25, 1962.
