Funeral Service Held Wednesday For Jay Figgins

Jay L. Figgins, 76, was found dead in his home Monday evening. Death occured Sunday, June 30, 1974.
Services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Peterseim Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Woodin officiating. Pall bearers were Arlis Niffenegger, Lester Smith Jr., Paul T. Miller, Perry T. Miller, Curtis Figgins and Raymond Chalupa. Burial was in the Sharon Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Figgins was born May 9, 1898 in the log cabin he later donated to the Kalona Historical Village. He was the son of George G. and Sarah Glider Figgins. He married Luva Hartsock in 1919 at Kalona. She died in 1952. He had farmed in the Kalona area and also lived in Lone Tree and Washington.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sylvanus (Eula Jean) Miller Jr. of Treynor; and two sons; Jack of Kalona and Ned of Riverside; also eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Leland (Marie) Kracaw of Keota.
He was preceded in death by and infant brother.
