Levi Schrock Funeral Services Held Wednesday
Levi S. Schrock, 77, a bishop of the Old Order Amish, died Sunday, April 14, 1974 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a short illness.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Schrock home. Truman W. Miller officiated. Burial was in the Peter Miller Cemetery. Pall bearers were Linus Gingerich, Alvin Weaver, Tobe Yoder, and Mark Miller. Peterseim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bishop Schrock was born Aug. 8, 1896 in LaGrange County, Ind. He was the son of Samuel S. and Amanda Hochstetler Schrock. He married Sarah Yoder on Dec. 19, 1918 in Nappanee, Ind. He was ordained a minister of the Old Order Amish in 1941 and became a bishop in 1955.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Rudy D. (Mary) Miller, Mrs. Elmer J. (Sylvia) Ropp, Mrs. Daniel (Alma) Nisly, all of Kalona and Mrs. Perry L. (Judith) Miller of Hutchinson, Kan.; four sons, Olen of Iowa City; Elmer and Leo, both of Kalona and Edwin of Riverside; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Amanda) Nisly of Hutchinson, Kan. and Mrs. Dan Bontrager of Shipshewana, Ind.
A son, four brothers and four sisters died earlier.IN MEMORY OF
