Mrs. Grace F. Tilden died late Thursday, April 3, 1969 at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 15 days, in Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton, where she had been a patient a few days. Mrs. Tilden, a long-time Kalona resident, had lived in the Embassy Nursing Home in Newton for the past year.
Grace Ford was born July 18, 1880 the daughter of A.S. and Elizabeth Overholser Ford. On April 21, 1904 she was married to Dr. D.G. Tilden and he preceded her in death in 1931.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star; a past matron of Naomi Chapter of Kalona; and a member of the Kalona Methodist Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Norma Tilden of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Alma Michel of Kalona; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon in the Kalona United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Bross in charge. Interment was in the Sharon Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Peterseim Funeral Home.
