Stanley (Bub) Dawson died Monday afternoon, March 11, 1968 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City where he had been taken after he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on Sunday.
Stanley L. Dawson was born in Kalona October 30, 1909, the son of L. Perry and Della Marsh Dawson. He died at the age of 58 years, 4 months, and 11 days. He was married to Raymah Trask at Kahoka, Missouri in 1936.
He was employed by the town of Kalona for a number of years and for the past 20 years he was employed by the University of Iowa as a plumber. A member of Kalona Lodge No. 508 I.O.O.F. and a member of the National Guard during World War II.
Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Richard Adams, Kalona, three grandchildren; one brother, Donald, Junction City, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Conklin, Keota and Mrs. Harold Stumpf, Kalona.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 13, at 1:30 o'clock at the United Christian and Baptist church in Kalona with the Rev. Herman Rice officiating. Interment was made in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Peterseim Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established at the United Christian and Baptist church in memory of Mr. Dawson.
