Fairfield Man Killed

Ronald Clayton, 37, Fairfield, was killed late Friday when his car ran off Iowa Highway 218 east of Washington.

Washington County sheriff's officers said Clayton was alone in the car when it left the road and rolled over, tossing him out.

Officers said Clayton was alive at the scene of the accident but died en route to the Washington County Hospital.

The body was taken to the Solon Funeral Home in Streator, Ill., where services will be held Monday morning. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Streator.

The Clayton family moved to Fairfield in August this year from Milan, Ill., and reside at 400 S. Sixth.

He was a salesman for Stanley Foods, calling on schools, institutions and hospitals.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, and seven children, all at home. They are Patricia, 18, Jane 17, Rick 15, Chris 14, Danny 9, Barbara 8 and Jennifer 7, along with one grandchild.

He is also survived by his parents, Reuel and Madge Clayton, Streator.
