Bontrager.- Vernon B., son of Menno S. and Magdalena (Swartzendruber) Bontrager, was born in Kalona, Iowa, March 19, 1909; died at his home of a heart attack on April 20, 1977; aged 68 years. On February 20, 1945, he was married to Nina Bender, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons (Lynn and Gene), 2 grandsons, and one sister (Ruby Bontrager). He was preceded in death by on infant son (Gail), one sister and 2 brothers. He was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on April 23, in charge of Clarence Troyer, Lonnie Yoder, and J. John J. Miller; interment in the East Union Cemetery.
