Mrs. Lauretta A. Emde, 89, died Saturday, January 21, 1978 in University Hospital at Iowa City where she had been a patient for about one week. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Peterseim Funeral Chapel at Kalona with the Rev. Harold Sparks in charge. Burial was in Wassonville Cemetery. Mrs. Emde was born November 11, 1888 in Keokuk County, a daughter of George and Rose Clabber King. She was reared at Wellman and was very active in the United Methodist Church. She married Evert Emde, April 5, 1910 and he died in 1937. Surviving are three children: Norma Aswell of Montclair, California, Elma Jirsa of Wellman, and Boyd Emde of Wellman; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Donna Ash of Iowa City. One son, two grandchildren, and two sisters preceded her in death.
