100-Year Old Resident Dies Saturday, May 9

Kalona's oldest resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Frances Stumpf, died at Pleasantview Home Saturday, May 9, 1970 following a short illness at the age of 100 years, 1 month and 15 days of age.
Mrs. Stumpf was born near Kalona, March 23, 1870, a daughter of James and Catherine Carpenter Randall. She was married to David Stumpf April 18, 1893 at Kalona. The couple farmed southwest of Kalona many years.
The couple had two sons, Rex of Janesville, Iowa and Ora, deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband in 1938.
Survivors include her son, Rex, one grandchild, three great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at the Peterseim Chapel at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday, May 12 with the Rev. James Bross in charge. Interment was made in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona.
