Iva Isabel Moss, 91, of Riverside, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at her home in Riverside following a sudden illness. Funeral services for Iva will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. Burial will be in the Riverside Public Cemetery. Casketbearers will be David Bender, John Funk, Tim Colbert, Larry Rummelhart, Randy Sexton, Nate Kasdorf, Mark Stout, and Ryan Stout. Honorary casketbearers will be Don Latta, and Cannon Knebel. Following the committal services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414. Visitation for Iva will be held on Sunday, April 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in memory of Iva. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Iva Isabel Hartzell was born on March 14, 1916 in Exira, Iowa the daughter of Worth and Mary (Jayne) Hartzell. On June 15, 1934, Iva was united in marriage to Verne John Moss in Washington, Iowa. Iva was employed for many years as a receptionist at the University of Iowa, and later at Steindler Orthopedic Clinic. Iva was a member of the Riverside V.F.W. #6414 Ladies Auxiliary, the Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Washington County Republican Women. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, cheering for the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes, but mostly she loved spending time with her friends and family.
Iva will be deeply missed by her son, John Moss of Iowa City; three daughters, Marilyn Clarice Moss of Riverside, Bette Jane Funk of Tiffin and Mary Susan Branch of Riverside; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verne on August 28, 1989; one grandson Jerry Moss; four brothers and one sister.
