Charles E. "Chuck" Hootman, 82 of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Parkview Manor in Wellman.
Services will be held at a later date.
A memorial fund has been established for the HCI Hospice of Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Hootman was born May 26, 1931, in Fairfield, the son of Fred and Eva Philips Hootman. He married Betty DeWolf Sept. 9, 1950, in Fairfield.
He attended Fairfield High School and joined the National Guard.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and was a communications repairman. He served in Vietnam.
He retired from the Air Force in 1979 at the rank of staff sergeant.
He enjoyed electronics and gardening.
Survivors include his wife Betty of Iowa City; two sons, Michael Hootman and partner Nui Ordongard of Seattle and Jeff Hootman of Iowa City; one brother, James Hootman of Harrisburg, S.D.; and four sisters, Delores Ford of Mt. Pleasant, Dixie Myers of Fairfield, Peggy Hoover of Edwards, Mo., and Karen Iseman of Lebanon, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill and Bob Hootman.
