Cyrus Woodford

Sad Casualties — A friend writing from Clay township in this county, relates the following fatal occurrence:

“A fatal accident happened in Clay township on the 15th, at the Steam Saw Mill of Messrs. Reed & Mills. While the saw was in motion, a Mr. Cyrus Woodford fell on the saw. Striking on the left shoulder, he was cut diagonally to the heart; and the backbone was severed. Mr. Woodford was a very industrious and worthy young man, lately from Ohio. He has left a wife to mourn his death, a stranger in a strange land.” —M. Meacham
