In this Place, on the 9th inst.; Frederic Ditmars Thornman, son of Mrs. Harriet Sherman, in the 5th year of his age.

Thus, in the midst of life, we are surrounded by death. Flowers bloom, and flowers fade—sickness blasts and death devours—loved ones, highly cherished, are torn from and lost to us, but not forever; the loved one is only transplanted to the “brighter clime,” to love and sing as angels do. “suffer the little children to come unto me,” says “the son of man,” who, in our nature conquered death, and triumphed over the grave. Then be dry each tear—be hushed each rising murmur: “there are no tears in Heaven."
