Emma Carter

In this town, on the 17th inst., Mrs. Emma Carter consort of Mr. H. G. Carter, in the thirty-eighth year of her age.

Mrs. Carter was born, raised and married in Harrison County, Ohio. She had resided in this place only about two years, and was the subject of much and severe affliction, which she bore with meekness and resignation. Her Christian character and deportment won the esteem of all who became acquainted with her. Her surviving family and friends feel deeply the loss they have sustained, but will draw consolation from the fact that she is now realizing all that was expressed by her almost with her dying breath; “I shall soon be in Heaven.”

“Her faith kept the narrow way,

Till life’s last hour was fled,

And then with a heavenly ray,

Illumed her dying bed.”
