H. BEKEL rites

BRIGHTON - Harry Jacob BEKEL, 80, Brighton, died Thursday afternoon at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rv. Robert Barker officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Lung Association.

BEKEL was born June 27, 1906 near Germanville, the son of William and Lena POHREN BEKEL. He married Bea GODWIN March 22, 1928 at Germanville. A member of Hope Lutheran Church, Germanville, he spent his adult life farming in the Germanville area.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Joann BURKEY of Durant, Mrs. Earl KEMPF of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Rollie ZIHLMAN of Fairfield and Mrs. Max BALDOSIER of Brighton. A brother and a granddaughter preceded him in death.
