Thomas F. Flander and Michael Alfred Greiner, both of Keota, were fatally injured early this morning in a car truck accident north of Iowa City.

Funeral services for the two men are pending today. The bodies are at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota.

The two 24 year old Keota men suffered head injuries and died shortly after they were taken to the University Hospital at Iowa City.

Authorities said the car in which the two were riding slammed into the back of a semi-truck gasoline transport about 1:30 this morning four miles north of Liberty on highway 218.

The driver of the truck, Kenneth Fulton, 32, of Iowa City was not injured, according to reports.

Authorities stated that Greiner and Flander were alone in their auto at the time of the accident.

Both were single.

Michael was associated with his brother, Cecil, in the Greiner Pump and Plumbing Company at Keota

Flander, a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, farmed with his father, Frank, west of Keota.

Michael Alfred Greiner, 24, a native of Keota, and a son of Albert and Elsie Baker Greiner. He graduated from Keota High School and since that time had been associated with his brother, Cecil, in the Greiner Pump and Plumbing C. at Keota.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Keota.

His father is deceased, having been the victim of an auto accident 11 years ago.

Survivors are his mother; and three brothers and sisters: Mrs. Eddy (Marie) Potandy of Milwaukee, Edmund of Sigourney, Mrs. Evan (Claudine) Judd of Saratoga, Calif., Martin of Colorado Springs, Cecil of Keota, Vernon, Doyle, John and Mrs. John (Eldora) Duttweiler, all of Cedar Rapids, and Sam who is in military service, stationed at Minot, North Dakota.
