WATKINS, MCCREEDY, EVANS, LENAHAN, SHULLENBARGER

LIVINGSTON, TEXAS--Myra Joan MCCREEDY WATKINS, 72, of Livingston, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 in Livingston.

Her body ws donated for ALS research after which it was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10a.m. Saturday, July 5 in the Ainsworth Community Church. the ashes will be buried in Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Memorials can be made to the Methodist Neurological Institute, the Muscular Dystrophy Association ALS division or the Washington County Genealogical Society.

Mrs. WATKINS was born January 6, 1936 in Fairfield, the daughter of of H.Duane and Carrie (Evans) MCCREEDY. She married Raymond E. WATKINS on Dec 26, 1956.

She lived north of Fairfield until moving with her family in to Packwood in 1948. She graduated from Packwood High School in 1954. She graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in music. After her marriage, she moved with her husband to Niagara Falls, N.Y, in 1957 where she taught elementary school for a year. In 1969 they moved to Kennesaw, Ga., they later moved to Silver Springs,Md,where they stayed for 20 years. While there she became an accomplished bell ringer with the Ashton Methodist Church choir. In 1992, they sold their house and moved into a motor home, where they traveled for 15 year. During this time they researched family genealogy. She wrote and published 11 books on her McCreedy ancestors and shorter publications on seven other ancestral lines. She was diagnosed with ALS in 2007.

Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Melanie SHULLENBARGER, and husband Scott of Mounty Airy, MDl, Stephanie WATKINS of Austin, Texas, and Kara LENAHAN and husband James of Pearland, Texas; three grandchildren; thre brothers, John MCCREEDY and wife Mary Ann of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Mike MCCREEDY and wife Margaret of Conroe, Texas and Ernest MCCREEDY and wife Wilma of Fairfield.

She was precededin death by her parents and two brothers.
