Duane Alliman, 82, Wayland, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at the Parkview Home in Wayland as a result of complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Independent Bible Church in Wayland, with the Rev. Robert Wolf officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Cottonwood Cemetery in Wayland. Visitation is Monday, Nov. 12, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Parkview Home and the Independent Bible Church.

Duane Henry Alliman was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Henry County, Iowa the son of William D. And Lydia Mae (Neff) Alliman. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1949. He served in the United States Navy from Jan. of 1951 to Oct. of 1954 during which time the U.S. was involved in the Korean Conflict. He married Erma Davison on July 3, 1951, in Key West, Fla.

After returning from the Navy, he went to barber school in Des Moines. He owned and operated his own shop in Winfield, from 1960 to 1970. In 1970, he accepted the position of Administrator of the Parkview Nursing Home in Wayland, until retiring from there in 1990.

He was an active member of the Independent Bible Church. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, clock making, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Adelee (Michael) Drake of Florence, Colo., and Julia (Timothy) Barta of Hiawatha; two sons, Douglas (Julie) Alliman of Whitchita, Kan., and Randall (Kay) Alliman of Biggsville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Betty (Paul) Brewer of Muscatine and Wanda (Allard) Nayadley of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Lonn Alliman, and one brother, William (Billy) Alliman, Jr.
