Joseph LOWDER

Joseph O. LOWDER, 75, of Davenport and formerly of Washington, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at ManorCare in Davenport.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. He was buried in Fairmount Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Mr. LOWDER was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Washington, the son of Alva and Cynthia LOWDER. He graduated from Pleasant Plain High School, and married Mildred OLSEN in Pleasant Plain on Sept. 30, 1947.

He served in the Navy during World War II and worked for a locak union as an operating engineer until 1979. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Buffalo for more than 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; nine children, Joseph LOWDER, Jr. of Stockton; Robert LOWDER and his wife Kim of Davenport; Christian SAUR and her husband Steve of Blue Grass; Cynthia LOWDER of Port Angeles, Wash.; Shirley HOOPES and her husband Steven of Clovis, Calif.; Vickie GARDEN and her husband Mark of Eldridge; Mary DANIEL and her husband Mark of Poniac, Ill.; Deborha TUNIS and her husband Davis of Hampshire, Ill.; and Julie WINCE and her husband Terry of Moline; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen MONTGOMERY of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Wayne LOWDER; and a brother, Wayne.
