WELLS, PETERS, GOODNER, JOHNSTON, BOSWORTH, PARKER, LESTER

Mrs. Jessie Clara WELLS, 73, died November 3 in Mercy hospital, Iowa City, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. She resided eight miles west of Washington in Dutch Creek township. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 6 at the Powell Funeral Home at Keota, with the Rev. Arthur PETERS of the West Chester Federated church in charge. Interment in the Elm Grove cemetery in Washington.

Mrs. WELLS was born in Reynolds, Illinois, February 16, 1887, a daughter of Thomas L. and Mary I. GOODNER JOHNSTON. The family moved to Iowa in 1889. She was reared and educated in Keokuk county. She married Roy C. WELLS September 27, 1911 in Hedrick. She has lived near Washington since that time.

Mrs. WELLS was a member of the Federated church at West Chester and a former member of the White Way club.

Survivors include a son Keith, of Keota; two daughters, Mrs. Milo C. (Gail) BOSWORTH, of Manhasset, New York and Mrs. Robert (Mary) PARKER, of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Augusta LESTER, of Washington; and ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband five years ago, and two brothers and two sisters.
