Evelyn Janette Weaver was born July 28, 1919 in rural Johnson County near Wellman, Iowa the daughter of Joseph and Salena (Shetler) Bender. She attended the Woodland rural school. On October 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Tillman M. Weaver in Kalona. They made their home in rural Wellman where Evelyn was a homemaker and she worked at Country Lane Eggs for five years. She was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church where she served as the custodian for twelve years. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, and her flower gardens. Evelyn died on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Parkview Manor in Wellman following a lengthy illness at the age of 89 years. Evelyn is survived by a son Linton Weaver of Wellman; a daughter Elaine Hochstedler and husband Keith of Iowa City; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in July of 1980, three sisters - Maxine Walters, Gertrude Gnagey, Myrtle Slaubaugh; and a brother Gerald Bender. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the West Union Cemetery in rural Parnell. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell. Pastor David Boshart and Pastor Martha Yoder will officiate. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the West Union Mennonite Church. Powell Funeral Home of Wellman is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until service time March 12, 2009 at West Union Mennonite Church
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. March 11, 2009 at West Union Cemetery.
