Visitation: 2-8 p.m. March 31, 2008 at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home
Interment: April 01, 2008 at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church
Donald James Hochstetler was born April 22, 1927 the son of Earl and Mary (Krabill) Hochstetler.
He attended Center High School and graduated from the Hesston Academy in Hesston, Kansas. On November 20, 1949 he was united in marriage to Marvel Kinsinger at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church.
He has lived in the Wellman and Kalona communities all of his life where he farmed. He was a member of the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. He served on the Pleasantview Home Board where he served as Chairman and Treasurer, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Rio Grande, Texas.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing and taking care of his cabin. Don died suddenly on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, Texas at the age of 80 years. Don is survived by his wife Marvel of Kalona; 2 daughters - Becky Yoder and husband Steve of Kalona; Barbara Fentress of Denver, Colorado; 2 sons - Brent Hochstetler and wife Barb of Wellman; Dave Hochstetler and wife Jan of Kalona; 9 grandchildren- Krista Wituk, Andrea Graber, Jessica del Pilar, Charlie & Julian Fentress, Drew, Britt, Dylan & Jenna Hochstetler; 4 Great Grandchildren- Maddie & Braden Wituk, Zoe Graber, Lucia Paloma del Pilar; 2 sisters - Arlene Miller of Kalona; Mary Brenneman and husband Keith of Mesa, Arizona; and 3 brothers - Dale Hochstetler and wife Lucille of Hesston, Kansas; Roger Hochstetler and wife Glennis of Denver, Colorado; and Orlin Hochstetler and wife Lores of Williamsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents.
