"Death takes Mrs. Chihak --Longtime resident of Riverside dies of heart attack --
Mrs. Anna Chihak, 77, died suddenly Saturday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose Workman, in Iowa City where she had been visiting for the last two weeks.Death was due to a heart attack.
Mrs. Chihak had been a resident of Riverside nearly her entire life. During this winter she had been visiting with her daughters, Mrs. Workman and Mrs. Bessie Fesler of Marengo. She left Marengo two weeks ago to visit in Iowa City. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Novy and was born October 27, 1861. In 1880 she was married to Frank Liska and they became the parents of four children, one son and three daughters. Mr. Liska died in 1894 and three years later she was married to Joseph Chihak at Riverside. He preceded her in death about six years ago. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Workman and Mrs. Fesler, and Mrs. Albia Kesl of Cuba, Kansas. The son, Frederick died when he was 15 years of age. Also surviving are one brother Frank Novy of South Dakota; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist Church in Riverside. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery. The funeral was in charge of the Fesler funeral home at Marengo where the remains were taken."
