Obituary for Lyle J. Fesler in Washington Evening Journal newspaper on 12 Oct 1953; found on microfilm at Washington, Washington county, Iowa Public Library - 2nd floor Genealogy department:
"Lyle Fesler, 63, of Riverside Dies Sunday -- RIVERSIDE--Lyle J. Fesler, 63, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mercy hospital in Iowa City.[11 Oct 1953-JF]
Mr. Fesler suffered a stroke in the Swailes TV shop in Riverside. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and never regained consciousness.
Funeral services will be in the Sorden and Adams Funeral chapel in Riverside. Rev. Thomas Wolfe, pastor of St. Mary's church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Riverside. The exact date of services is not known pending word from relatives.
Mr. Fesler was born June 27, 1890, the son of Daniel and Mary Boyd Fesler.
He was married to Bessie Gerot on June 11, 1914 at Muscatine.
He attended Riverside schools and spent practically all his life in the Riverside area.
Survivors include his wife, six daughters, Mrs. Junior Buline of Lone Tree, Mrs. Donald Claussen of Iowa City, Mrs. Louis Walsh of Davenport, Mrs. Wilbur Reed of Middletown, R. I., Mrs. Morgan Philbin of Hawthorne, Calif. and Mrs. Richard Eagle of Vallejo, Calif. and two sisters, Mrs. Betta Kennefick of Davernport and Mrs. Violet Smith of Louisville, KY.
Mr. Fesler was preceded by two brothers and one sister."
