1914 - 2004

Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Velma A. Bettis, 89, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.
Mrs. Bettis passed away Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at her home following an extended illness.
Velma Ann Novy was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Helena (Kron) Novy. She married Sylvester Zielinski of Brighton, Iowa, in 1935. He passed away in 1975. She then married Raymond Adrian in 1978. He passed away in 1983. She then married Karol Bettis in 1985.
Before her retirement she had worked for 33 years at Crescent Cleaners. Velma adored her little dog Candy and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She loved the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Survivors include her husband, Karol; daughter, Joanne Benck, Davenport; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Linda Edwards, Lubbock, Texas; stepson, Clark Adrian, Davenport; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, Sylvester and Ray, her parents, three brothers, and a sister preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.
