Vera Amelia Jarvis, age 87, of Washington died Sunday January 6, 2008 at Halcyon House in Washington following a short illness.

Celebration of Life services will be held 1:30 pm Thursday January 10, 2008 at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Sue Meade officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 on Thursday afternoon. Private family interment will take place at Sandy Hook Cemetery in rural Brighton. Vera was born on April 27, 1920 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Taylor and Glennie (Goodman) Stout. She attended graduated from Brighton High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College. Vera was united in marriage to Carl W. Jarvis in Brighton, Iowa on October 8, 1939. Vera was a homemaker and a farm wife. Vera was a member of the United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Vera taught music lessons out of her home for many years.

Vera is survived by her sons, Jon Jarvis of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Taylor Jarvis of Hayward, California; and Lane Jarvis of Pleasantville, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2005; 1 son, Noel Jarvis; and her brother Jesse Stout in 2003.
