John Brown Ingham died at the home of his son Marcus near Brighton on Monday, Feb.24,1890, after having spent a useful life of nearly the alloted four score years. The immediate cause of his death was the grip, which his constitution weakened by old age could not withstand. The funeral was held from the house Tuesday, Rev. Rose officiating.
Deceased was born in Sharon, Con., Nov.10, 1810, being one of 13 children, two of whom survive him. They are his brothers Harry Ingham of Clay and Joseph Ingham of Grundy Co. He went with his parents to New York state when a child, and at manhood went to Massachusetts where he served an apprenticeship to a chair maker. He afterwards moved to New Haven Conn. where in 1834 he was married to Mary J. Plumb. They lived in New York awhile and then returned to Conn. In 1857, they came to Brighton, Iowa, which has been his home ever since. He was the father of four children, two of whom survive him, Edwin E, of New Haven, Conn.,and Marcus. His wife died in Brighton, March 25, 1887 since which time he has made his home with his son.
