Alva W. Maahs, 77, of Washington, died Wednesday, Apr 11, 1990, at the M.L. McCreedy home. Alva William Maahs was born July 23, 1912, at Eagle, NB., the son of William and Anna Gaskell Maahs. He married Arlene Olson in Salem, OR., who died in July 1974. On Nov 22, 1976, he was married to Opal Hesseltine Richards. Survivors include his wife, Opal of Washington; two daughters, Gwen Dryer of Nevada, MO., and Cara Golerman of Salem, and one step-daughter, Janet Shelman, Washington; three step-sons, James Richards, Joe Richards, Washington, and John Richards of Brighton; three grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard of McMinnville, OR., and Dwane, Julesburg, CO., and two sisters, Birdene (Mrs. Paul)Miller of Banks, OR., and Mrs. evelyn Shroder, Hillsboro, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Arlene; a son Ivan, and two brothers, Clyde and Donald.
