BENJAMIN BIDWELL section 31, Marion Township, is a native of Vermont, born in December, 1819 and is the son of Benjamin and Sarah Bidwell, the former a native of Connecticut and the latter of New Hampshire. He is of English descent. When he was but seven years of age his parents moved to Champaign County, Ohio where he was reared on a farm and received a liberal education. … His father was a soldier in the War of 1812, while his paternal grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. His father died in Brighton, Washington County, and his mother in Jefferson County, Iowa. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years and was a great worker in the Church.
