James Morris Mumford and wife Martha Ellen Fooks Mumford are buried at Newbern Cmty, near Lacona, Warren Co., IA. Parents of James Morris Mumford are thought to be either John E. Mumford (Middle initial is thought to be Evans)and wife Nancy Weldon OR Jesse John Mumford and wife Lucretia (Last name unknown. Jesse John Mumford is found in a biographical sketch of the couples eldest son Josiah Mumford, who completed his last days in Atchison Co., MO, near the village of Westboro. The biography is the "vanity" style written for subscribers to the to then to be published book. In this case, it was printed by the Lewis Publishing Co., Chicago, IL in 1901 under the title " A Biographical History of Nodaway and Atchison Counties, Missouri". The accuracy of the biographies depended upon the notes or outline provided to the publishing staff by the family members. It is unlikely that the names of Josiah Mumford's parents are completely accurate.
