Mystery

GARDNER

I have a William H. Gardner who enlisted in the 1st Iowa Cavalry, Company A. He stated on the enlistment that his residence was Indianola. I have a note that says he was in the 1870 census in Richland Township. He moved out of the area by 1873 and died in Arkansas, as did his unknown wife. His two children were said to have been born in Iowa, Charles in 1869 and Olive in 1871. I have not been able to find him in the 1870 census or any other information on him aside from his military enlistment. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
