Goodness, what a confusion I have. I begun my Mumford research with two items: Cora Ruth Mumford Fluckey's notes and a book by Vernon McCabe, "Descendants of John McCabe, Edition II".

Mr. McCabe is linked to the Murray family and has an extensive family lineage of this line. According to his book, Nancy McCabe married Severn Handy Murray and they had 14 children. Their 9th child was Nancy ANN Murray who married George Vandom. Their 10th child was Mary Murray who married Josiah Showell Mumford on 24 Dec 1845.

I too have heard that his wife died on the wagon trip west in an unknown place. According to the copies of a family Bible I have, Josiah's wife was Mary M. Murray b. 26 Dec 1828.

I would love some additional information on Josiah and Ann Murray if you have it.
