Dorothy M. Naberhaus was born December 3, 1927 at Earling, Iowa the daughter of Catherine (Kimmen) and Paul Veasman and passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Westview Care Center in Indianola. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 4, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Indianola with burial will following in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Dorothy was married to Joe Naberhaus December 28, 1946. She taught rural schools in Greene and Guthrie County before moving to Indianola in the 1950's. She was employed for 16 years as secretary at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, where she was a charter member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents; and sisters, Carolyn Smith, Lucille Johnson, Julia Zwiercycki, Mary Lehman and Darlene Reeves.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony (Jeannine) and Timothy (Kimberly) Naberhaus of Indianola; six grandchildren, Nathan and Ryan Naberhaus, Kaily DeFino, Erin, Josie and Eric Naberhaus; two great-grandchildren, Bianca and Giada DeFino; and sisters, Loretta Garreau of Guthrie Center, Rita Kim of Crystal Lake, IL, Viola Heins of Dexter, Mildred Nichols of Joliet, IL, Clara Navratil and Maxine Edwards of Indianola, Donna Rieck of Des Moines, Virginia Smith of Weldon and Patricia Galbert of Albany, GA; brothers, Paul and John Veasman of Indianola, Larry Veasman of Indianola, and Mike Veasman of Colfax; a host of nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 3 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in her name. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.
