The Lacona people were shocked and saddened by the news of the death of Andrew Kessler which occurred Friday night about 10 o’clock after an illness lasting only about two hours. Mr. Kessler was about 80 years old and had been in failing health for some time but his death came as a shock to his friends. Mr. Kessler was preceded in death by his wife who passed away about two months ago. He is survived by his sons, William, of East Pleasant Plains, Lawrence and Frank of South Dakota, daughter, Mrs. Anna Bauer, of South Dakota, Mrs. Bertha Fehrer and Mrs. Mollie Bauer of Lacona. The funeral was held Monday at 9:30 at the St. Mary’s Catholic church, conducted by Rev. Father Burkheizer with burial in the cemetery just north of Lacona. Those that came from a distance to attend the funeral of Andrew Kessler Bauer of Artesian, S. Dak., Martin, Lawrence and Albert Miller of Martensdale, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gasser of Chariton and William Kessler of East Pleasant Plain, Iowa.
