Laurel Hill CemeteryMolly J. Carico, 80, died Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville, Iowa.
Molly was born June 1, 1931, in Des Moines, to George and Alice (Collins) Backstrom. She was united in marriage to Charles H. Carico on June 1, 1948. She retired from the State of Iowa, Vital Records Dept. and prior to that Molly worked at the Wilden Hospital in Des Moines. She also owned a ceramic shop in Indianola. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading the Reader’s Digest. Molly was a member of First Apostolic Church in Indianola.
Molly is survived by her children, Charles (Judy) Carico, Randy Carico, Neena (Bill) Leih and Marsha (Toby) Selvage; brother, John Backstrom; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Carico, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Preston and Faith; brothers, George and David Backstrom; and her sisters, Sherry Backstrom and Shirley George.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Apostolic Church in Indianola or Knoxville Hospice of Central Iowa.
