(March 9, 1875 - July 28, 1953)Funeral Friday For Ross Bishop
Services for Ross Bishop, 78, who died about midnight Tuesday at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in North River Church. Burial will be in the North River Cemetery. Mr. Bishop was taken to the hospital three weeks ago. He and his wife, son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Brown, lived in the North River neighborhood for many years. He was born in Greenfield Township and lived in Warren County all of his life. Mr. Bishop’s grandfather, Joshua Bishop, came to Warren County in 1845, buying 160 acres from the government two miles west of Summerset, the farm later to be known as the Abe Ash farm. His father, Levi Bishop, bought from Francis Whited in 1864 and the 80 acre farm on which he was born and which he has owned since 1901.
Survivors include his wife, and three children, Mrs. Alvin Naegele of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ralph Young of Des Moines and Mrs. Brown. Source – Herald Record & Indianola Tribune, Indianola, Iowa, Thursday, July 30, 1953, p.1
