Wilomi Penman
(July 30, 1935 - December 8, 2022)

Wilomi Dayle Penman, 87, of Runnells, passed away peacefully at Altoona Nursing & Rehab, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, December 8, 2022.
Wilomi was born July 30, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa to Willis C and Naomi D. Hokanson. Wilomi married the love of her life, Jack on July 15, 1954. Wilomi loved knitting, sewing and playing the piano in church. She was known for her art in creating porcelain dolls and cooking. Most of all she was strong in her faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindi (Ernie Bensley) Penman; son, Jack (Judy) Penman Jr.; eight grandchildren, Jeni (Tim) Brown, Denise (Jake) Wheeler, Jill, Amber and Ian Penman, Erin (Troy) Svejda, Cassie (Paul) Kibling, Brenna (Derek) Bagley; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Kris (John) Gates, brother, David (Lynn) Hokanson; sisters-in-law, Helen Penman, Della Bebber; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Melody Bensley; parents, Willis and Naomi Hokanson; brother, Billy Hokanson; sister, Barb Reid; brother-in-law, Harry Penman; sister-in-law, Peg Clark; and great-grandson, Liam Kibling.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Northwest Community of Christ Church, 3003 62nd St., Des Moines, IA 50322 with inurnment following in the Lowman’s Cemetery, Runnells, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Memorials may be given in her name to Guthrie Grove Retreat Center, 2232 158th Ln, Guthrie Center, IA 50115.
