Neale Alexander Sinclair
(November 1, 1925 - January 12, 2023)

Neale A. Sinclair, 97, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at his home in Indianola. Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m.
Neale was born on November 1, 1925, in Redwood County, Minn., to Oliver and Julia (Miller) Sinclair. He was raised on a farm and graduated from Wabasso High School in 1943. He married Marian R. Rasmussen in Jeffers, Minn., on December 11, 1950. His wife and three children survive him, Gail (Todd) Rauen, Byron, Minn.; Gary (DeeAnn) Sinclair, Indianola, and Steven (Roxanne) Sinclair, Kasson, Minn. Neale is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Michelle (Troy) Shulze and Jessica (Randy) Robinson, both of Dodge Center, Minn., Kelly (Doug) Lewis, of Ames, Megan (Mike) Tiano, of Indianola, and Jasmine, Jade, Nik, and Tia Sinclair of Kasson, Minn. Neale and Marian were blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He always said he was the luckiest man in the world when he was with his family. Neale enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946, served as an instructor of electronics at the Navy School in Hawaii and was honorably discharged in December 1947. He returned to Wabasso to work in agriculture for Minnesota Farm Bureau and then moved to Dodge Center, Minn., to manage a new fertilizer plant, eventually advancing to district sales manager. In 1964, he joined the Monsanto Company in agriculture sales for Iowa, Minnesota and North Dakota, and in 1976 was employed with the Laverty Company as coordinator of operations, until he retired in 1991. For the next few months, he worked in the Trust Department at Northwest Bank. Neale was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post #165. He was a 20-year member of the Rotary Club of Indianola, a 10-year member of the Elks Lodge and served as president of the Iowa Fertilizer and Chemical Association, president of the Iowa National and Market Association, president of the Indianola Development Association and chair of the Indianola Planning and Zoning Board. He volunteered with United Ways of Iowa, was a previous chair of the Iowa State Committee for Agricultural and a member of the 5th District Judicial Nominating Commission. He received the Indianola 1989 Volunteer Award and the 1990 Simpson College Business Man Award. Volunteering was an important and rewarding part of Neale’s beautiful journey.
Neale and Marian spent their winters in Arizona. He enjoyed watching sports, but his favorite activity was dancing with Marian. The two of them were always willing to lend a helping hand. They helped others paint many houses, (inside and out) garden, remodel, build decks and trim trees and bushes. No matter what the job, they were always there to help -- even if you didn’t ask for it!
Memorials may be given in Neale’s name to The Good Shepherd Fund at The Village. [This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/]
