Herald, Indianola, Iowa, Thurs., April 23, 1903, p.3
Thomas Blakely is quite low again. His daughter, Mrs. Johnson, is with him at present.

Indianola Herald, Indianola, Iowa, Thursday, May 14, 1903, p.3, col.1
Thomas H. Blakely, who for several months has been such a patient sufferer, died at his home last Wednesday evening at the age of 64 years. Funeral services were held at Ackworth Friday morning. His last weeks were full of suffering and it seems that if it had not been for his trust in the Divine Helper he could not have stood it as he did. But now he has gone to that land where sorrowing and suffering are no more.
Ackworth – The funeral of Thomas Blakely occurred at the Free Methodist church on Friday of last week. The services were conducted by Rev. Pond, of Milo, and were largely attended.

Advocate Tribune, Indianola, Iowa, Thurs., May 14, 1903, p.6
Hammondsburg - Tom Blakely died Wednesday after a lingering illness, and was buried at Ackworth. Another old soldier has gone to the great beyond.
