Family services for Tiana Marie Overton, 9, who passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020, in Des Moines, Iowa, will be held Friday, July 31, 2020. Family and friends may join the Live Stream on Tiana’s obituary page of Overton Funeral Home’s website beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Public visitation, using CDC Guidelines, will be held 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Cremation will follow services.
Tiana was born on May 4, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines to Natalie Overton. Tiana and Natalie lived in Knoxville, Iowa, where she attended West Elementary School until the second grade. In 2019, Tiana and her family moved to an acreage near Chariton, Iowa, where she attended third grade. She was excited to start fourth grade in the fall and to get back to Girl Scouts. Tiana loved to read, play with her baby dolls, but mostly loved her animals. She enjoyed helping out with all of the farm animals. She had been taking horseback riding lessons and loved riding her horse. Her favorite animals were unicorns, although she knew they weren’t real, and pigs. Tiana loved music, her favorite artists were Lizzo and Jojo Siwa. She enjoyed singing and having dance parties. Tiana was a mother hen, she loved to take care of her little brothers Brantley and Arlo, and her baby cousins. She was most excited about becoming a big sister again. Tiana was a free spirit and a social butterfly. She could talk to anyone for hours. Her smile was contagious. Tiana loved all the colors of the rainbow but her favorites were pink and purple. Tiana had a lot of challenges in her life but never let anything slow her down. She was strong willed and had the biggest heart. Tiana wanted to be everything, she wanted to be a doctor, a teacher, a mom, and most recently she wanted to be a babysitter. Tiana loved to travel, she looked forward to going to Arkansas to visit her grandma and grandpa Loverud, going to Missouri to go fishing with Papa Overton, and going to Minnesota to visit her friends. Her favorite foods were Mexican, Pizza and Shrimp. Tiana loved to dress up, wear dresses and get her hair done. She was looking forward to having a girls day with her mom and aunt Shannon. She loved spending time with all of her grandparents and aunts uncles; any chance she had to have a sleepover with one of them she was jumping at the opportunity. Tiana loved her friends and family so much. She touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Tiana is survived by her parents, Natalie Overton-Goff and Bryan Goff; brothers, Brantley and Arlo Goff; grandparents, Duane and Lyne Overton, Bobbie and Jeff Loverud, Mark and Lora Goff and Brenda and Roger Gilcrest; great-grandparents, Betty (David) Kingery and Karen (Edwin) DeLoney; aunts, Shannon (Brian) Brown, Brenda (Trevor Vancenbrock) Goff, Erin (Matt) Kehn; uncles, Seth (Megan Stittsworth) Goff, Josh (Christine Colburn) Jensen, Tyson (Amber) Thomason, and Tanner (Kayla) Thomason; and many cousins. She is proceeded in death by her great-grandparents, Eli and Ethel Overton, Carl and Barbara Munson, Marion and Gaye Goff; grandpa, Arlo Busick; and uncle, Arlo Goff.
