Dixie Jayne Beck
(November 29, 1961 - July 31, 2020)Graveside services and interment for Dixie Jayne Beck, 58, who passed away July 31, 2020, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020 in the Belmont Cemetery, rural Milo, Iowa. Dixie was loved by many in the Warren County and Des Moines area, as well as the Los Angeles area. She was very caring and loving and creative and entertaining, with a touch of "spice" to keep everyone on their toes!
Dixie was born to Gerald "Jerry" Beck and Myrna Beck on November 29, 1961. Life on the farm was certainly more exciting with Dixie, being the only female sibling, pestering her brothers. She loved Donny and Marie, Bobby Sherman, the Grease Soundtrack, playing games with her brothers, spending time with her Mom, watching I Love Lucy, singing all the songs while watching Wizard of Oz, and having friends and cousins over for visits and sleepovers. Dixie worked at People's Bank in Indianola before and after graduating from Southeast Warren High School.
In 1982, Dixie moved to the Los Angeles, CA, area to pursue modeling and acting. While on her pursuit in the entertainment business, she found a niche in mortgage banking, and became very successful in the LA area real estate field.
Dixie moved back to Milo in 2002, to be closer to her Mom, Dad, nieces and nephews in the area.
Dixie got into the restaurant business, partnering with David Ladd, to create a very successful barbecue location, Stu's, in the Merle Hay Mall food court. She thoroughly enjoyed the company of the "coffee drinkers" in the food court! Dixie also worked in catering in the Des Moines area.
Dixie worked hard and was very successful at everything she set her mind to. She had many talents, including art, singing, cooking, and caring for her pets.
Dixie loved her nieces and nephews, her many pets over the years (especially Stoney!), singing karaoke, and being around friends and family.
She will be missed greatly by her family in the Chicago area, aunts and uncles and cousins in central Iowa, and all her close friends in central Iowa and in LA.
Dixie is survived by her dad, Gerald "Jerry" Beck, brothers Dan (Jocelyn) Beck of Minneapolis, MN, Ted (Silvia) Beck of Park Ridge, IL, Andy (Lea Ann) Beck of Lacona, Gary (Will Dallaghan) Beck, and Tony (Shawna) Beck of Milo. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Olive, who adored Dixie.
Dixie was preceded in death by her mom, Myrna, and her many beloved pets.
