Marlene Kay Nordhagen, 81, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020, surrounded by her children. Private family services will be held with services recorded and posted to the website.
Marlene was born February 18, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Mildred Kienast. She attended North High School, and following graduation, completed her training in beauty school. Marlene was a welder at AMF, and in later years, she was a consistent member of the Hall of Fame Sales Team at Younkers Department Store. She married Darrel K. Nordhagen and together they raised four children.
Marlene was an avid reader, enjoyed nature, had a great sense of humor, and loved her cookies! She always put others needs/wants before her own. Her actions defined who she was. She loved without condition, spoke without bad intention, gave without reason, and cared without expectation. But by far, her greatest joy and love was her family and her relationship with God. She was a woman of great faith and had a kind and compassionate spirit.
Marlene is survived by her children, Christian (Kimberly) Nordhagen, Tami (Bradley Helms) Morris, Erica (Michael Babcock) Moen, Derek (Jennifer) Nordhagen; her grandchildren, Matthew Nordhagen, Jennifer Mott, Amy Schnathorst, Randi Morris, Alexa Cromer, Kelsi Fountain, Samantha Nordhagen, Josie Nordhagen, Riley Nordhagen, Caleb Nordhagen; great grandchildren, Ayden McCoy, Jayden Mott, Emma Cromer, Alivia Mott, Emery Nordhagen, Quinton Benningfield, Charles Nordhagen, Mason Cromer, Annalise Mott, Cecilia Benningfield, and McKenzie Cromer; sister, Shelia (Ronald) Stevens and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Darrel; parents, Charles and Mildred Kienast.
Memorials may be given to the family in Marlene’s name for a contribution at a later time. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
