Melody Ann Bernstrauch
(January 27, 1953 - October 5, 2020)

Melody Bernstrauch passed from this life on October 5, 2020. Melody was born in Des Moines, IA on January 27, 1953 to Hazel (Tuttle) and Earl Cheers. She lived most of her life in south central Iowa and some of her early adulthood in Clinton, AR and Bemidji, MN. Melody was wed to Steven Robinson, father to her first child, from 1972 to 1975. She was later wed to Jack Blanchard, father of her second child, from 1975 to 1981. She wed Gary Bernstrauch on August 16, 1988, gaining two more children. Melody retired her business, Melody’s Barbershop, in 2006 when she assumed the full-time role of Gary’s business partner of GMB Trucking.
Survivors include daughter, Sarah Robinson-Slagle (John); son, Jordan Blanchard (Lilia); step-daughter, Sommer Bernstrauch; stepson, Gary Bernstrauch Jr.; beloved grandchildren, Juliana, Kalei, Jayce, Olivia, and Finnegan; brother, Mark Cheers (Janie); brother, Lyle Cheers; sister, Marie Murphy (Ken); brother, Timothy Cheers (Sheryll); sister, Marsha Pickett (Michael); and brother, Richard Cheers (Brenda). She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Cheers; and husband, Gary Bernstrauch.
A memorial service for Melody is planned for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family in her name.
